I didn’t know that I was starving till I tasted you

Insatiable hunger – we’ve got enough of that, haven’t we? People are dying from starvation and I wonder if the actual problem is a lack of hunger elsewhere. A lack of hunger in the lives of christians.

The other day I was presented to a thing called unbelieving believers, but soon I had to realize that I probably am in that category myself, alongside with so many others. So many people waste their time by saying that they believe in Jesus and even all the promises he made. Yet there’s no evidence of it in our lives. I don’t know about you, but reading through the bible, the great comission and the stories of the first churches has always made me feel so.. disappointed. If Jesus said that in His name we will drive out demons, speak in new tongues, pick up snakes, drink poison without dying and in His name we will heal the sick, I wonder why we don’t see more of that. In my own case I spent years and years wondering if it would ever happen, but without believing that it would ever happen to me. I guess I thought that it had to be special people, chosen ones whom God really trusted.

Then DTS happened and I realized that God really speaks. My mind was so blown. My father speaks to me SO personally. As He faithfully spoke to me every day my faith grew stronger, and so did my hunger. Hailee Steinfeld is probably thinking about something else as she sings ” the more that I know you, the more I want to […] I didn’t know that I was starving till I tasted you” but I honestly feel like that is the perfect description of how I feel. Satisfied, but desperate for even more of Jesus. Praying for hunger sounds so peculiar, but that’s what I’m asking of God. It’s double sided. As He fulfills all my needs by revealing himself to me I just want more. Kenny Peavy, our teacher this past week, unfolded God’s promise in Matthew 5:6

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they                               will be filled.

They. Will. Be. Filled. Your hunger and thirst for the day determines your day. I need to believe this, for I’ve met people who does and guess what? As they step out in faith, in hunger and in expectation God shows up. And that’s how we can change the world. In expectancy to God. And we NEED to ask Him, for He’s not going to force it. He wants us to want it, because we want Him and that is a choice. If we make the choice, He delivers.

That is why hunger for food, for attention, for fleshly satisfaction, for fame and whatever should be met by people who are hungry for God, hungry for righteousness. He promised, that they will be filled. They. Will. Be. Filled. My God is so rich, so generous and He’s yearning for his creation to see his beauty – as we see it and give Him glory, His purpose for us is fulfilled. That’s why He send Jesus. I can stand in His throne room, right in front of His face and rejoice beyond my own understanding as His glory shines on my life and He’s teaching me how to reflect it through my life so that others might see Him too. So fam, we’ve got to stay hungry. Do you believe that God will fill you, that He WILL show up? If not, ask Him to help you. He said He’s the author of our faith, so we can trust Him with that too. I’ve even told Him, that I’m longing for a longing for Him, and what do you think he gave me? Insatiable hunger.
